Character Building
The Character Building Program consists of three phases. The first phase is designed to help
your child learn to follow rules, boundaries, and structure. In all aspects of life there are
responsibilities, rules, and boundaries.
Students begin the program with limited choices, but are informed that
privilege and status come from consistent working decisions. Our philosophy is one of result-based
consequences rather than by time.
We are not a prison; students who want to do time will not succeed in our
environment. We teach students
that success comes from good communication, hard work, and consistency.
The second phase of the program
is the Leadership Phase. This
phase of the program provides the greatest growth and development. This experience is essential for a number
of reasons: The student begins to
view themself as part of the solution rather than the problem.
·
The student has to learn to
stand up and confront their peers; for most of our students this is critical to
long-term success.
·
The student learns
appreciation for parents and other authority figures. Often we do not appreciate our parents until we become
parents ourselves. This experience
puts the student in a parent-like role, which gives a whole new appreciation
for parents.
·
Students begin to see and
understand the need for rules, limits, moderation, and boundaries.
·
Students learn how to work
with others, be part of a team, how to serve their community, and contribute to
the success of others.
·
Productivity and
responsibility increase self-esteem.
The Youth Leadership Program has
the most amounts of growth and opportunities for your child. Like all opportunities and positions of
responsibilities, this level has to be earned by the student. Then, and only then, will your child have
earned the respect and confidence of the staff and other students necessary for
them to succeed in this position.
Due to the importance of this part of the program in the growth of your
child, we feel it is important that your child eventually has an opportunity to
function in all areas of leadership positions. Best results can be realized when this happens.
The third phase is the
Internalization Phase. This is
where the students apply what they have learned; and their growth and positive
changes become internalized.
During the Internalization phase, the student makes the necessary
transitions in preparation to return home.
All three phases of this program
are critical! An example of this
might be compared to cake being baked in the oven. It may look done through the window, but if you pull it out
early it usually falls. Again,
this is a result-based program not “time” based. Students all work at different speeds.
Seminars:
Premier Education provides a
series of highly effective “educational seminars and workshops” specifically
designed to teach character building.
During these seminars, students learn about key character building
qualities such as: accountability,
honesty, integrity, trust, choices, responsibility, anger, and especially self-esteem. While the students are completing
his/her series of seminars, the parent are invited to attend parent Seminars
held in many locations throughout the United States. The parent seminars give you the opportunity to experience
first-hand some of the valuable things that your child is learning. While most of our parents will tell you
that the Premier Seminars will be of great personal value, the real benefit is
that it will also provide you and your child greater bonding, insight, and
understanding by participating in a common experience. Your participation in all parts of the
parent seminars is a foundation for the rebuilding of the family relationship
you desire and deserve. The
highlight of the Premier seminars is when parents and students are invited to
attend three effective Parent/Child workshops. These are designed to assist each family in improving
communications, strengthen relationships and preparing for the child’s return
home.
